any ideas?

so i just found out last night that i have to preach in two sundays. i'm not quite sure as to what i'm going to preach on yet, though. i'm kind of leaning towards what it means to glorify God with all of your mind. That we must not just guard our mind, but committ it to the glory of God. my friends and i talked quite a bit about this last night over dinner last night and it was a very encouraging conversation. this wouldn't necessarily be an 'exigetical' sermon, but it would be based on the greek use of the word 'mind'. any ideas about this or what i should preach on?

I gave Leah the "Love Your God with All Your Mind" book I got for you, so you can take a look at that. (I got copies for Beth and Ian, too. I think they'll really appreciate Moreland's ideas.) Sounds like a good topic to me! :)

I think I read on someone's blog somewhere about how the mind is inseperable from the body and soul....Oh, wait a minute... =)

Obviously, I think you're walking into wonderfully fertile territory; there are so many ways you could go with it. I see the mind as that which governs over our functions, but that works in accord with our body and soul. I think that the great commandment, whenever it is recited (ie. Deut 6, Matt 22, Luke 10) always mentions loving God with your all your mind along side loving God with all your heart and soul. Mind, body, spirit: inseperable (at least in my humble opinion).

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to let us know how it goes!

Jen,
I checked out that blog. I found the German article "Europe Thy Name is Cowardice" quite interesting. And, Tim, you'll like the testimony about Peter Jennings making a profession of faith in Christ on his deathbed (according to his private nurse & her Pastor anyway).
